| 8. What is Serve You’s stance on “transparent” or “pass-through” models? Does Serve You offer such a plan? |
 |
Serve You acknowledges that there has been significant interest in such models over the past several years. While we do not dispute their role as an option in a free market, our experience has shown that the way we do business with our traditional pricing structure is nearly always more beneficial to the client, both from a financial perspective as well as an “understanding where your money is going” stand point. In pass-through models, clients exchange a large up-front administrative fee for complete transparency on PBM acquisition costs. While this facilitates constancy of payment to access these rates, it may cause inconsistency in drug pricing from pharmacy-to-pharmacy (as PBM’s typically have different pricing arrangements with each pharmacy or pharmacy chain)…which can lead to member dissatisfaction and confusion (a.k.a. “noise”). Furthermore, the client pays this large administrative fee every month regardless of how many employees take advantage of the pharmacy benefit and, because PBM’s with this arrangement do not itemize the charges that compose the admin fee, the client is still left not knowing “where the money goes”…which is the major proponent argument for these types of plans.
While Serve You does not offer a pass-through model as a standard offering, should a client request such a plan design we will gladly custom-design one for them. |
